Drink, anyone? - 07-23-2008, 05:25 AM

What do you like to drink in an Izakaya?

I like jizake (microbrew sake).

In Japan I like Asahi, too. Have you tried Asahi or Sapporo in the States?

Not nearly as good as in Japan. They're made in LA or Canada. One of the major three is brewed by Budwieser.

Funny thing, one is brewed in Canada and Japanese Restaraunts sell it as "imported." seems a bit dishonest.

You like umeshu? Have you tried yuzushu (yuuzushu?)? Awesome.

Yes, much better in Japan, especially off the tap.

Never had yuzushu...

I'll usually have imo shouchu with warm water, a good mugi can be nice as well but I find most have an "earthy" taste that is just too earth like.

Strong stuff! My mother-in-law once refilled my sake tokuri with strait shouchu. I swear she was trying to murder me.
