Finally, the Green Tea Coke!!

Coca Cola Japan will be selling a green tea-flavored Coke starting June 8, 2009, according to Yahoo Japan News.

I will be reporting back as soon as I've tasted it. I love my country for always creating new things. ;)

wow! what will they come up with next?! so does the design really go to the bottom of the bottle?

ozkai 06-04-2009 06:00 AM

WOW!!

Coca Cola is in business, hope not as all those healthy Japanese teas in the drink machines were a really pleasant and healthy quencher.

Tenchu 06-04-2009 07:59 AM

Why has Coke suddenly started making all these other flavors?

Eyy?? Coca Cola Plus Green Tea already exists in other countries... Hardly a Japanese creation!

lol... I don't know how bear tastes with or without your extra ingrediants... I'll wait for someone else to be disgusted. lol

SHAD0W 06-04-2009 08:40 AM

:O Awesome! Nagoyankee, you just gotta post me some of that stuff!!! Pretty please with a cherry on top? :D

Nyororin 06-04-2009 09:50 AM

Unfortunately there is no way I will touch the stuff. "no calorie" means "filled with strange artificial sweeteners that are probably worse for you than sugar"...

I`ll pass. If I want no calorie green tea - I`ll buy green tea. Or sprinkle some maccha in regular coke or something. Fake sweeteners honestly make me incredibly ill, surely they can`t be good for you...

Tenchu, it's "pizza AND beer", not "pizza IN beer"....

TenmaAi 06-04-2009 06:26 PM

HungryForRamen 06-04-2009 07:11 PM

If only they had this type of thing in america. x.x Though I've never tried green tea, myself.

Sinestra 06-04-2009 07:39 PM

My curiosity is tingling but im with Nyororin on this one. There is probably all types of weird other chemicals in it. But damn would it be fun to try just once.

Aniki 06-05-2009 02:40 PM

So they made a green tea flavoured Coke, big deal. When they'll make some chilli pepper flavoured Coke, THEN it'll be something to talk about.

Nendoroid 06-05-2009 03:53 PM

We need fish flavored coke.

everybest 06-05-2009 04:41 PM

I'll still be in the city on June 8th. I'll make sure to try it out too. Where should I look? Convenient store or vending machine?

kyo_9 06-05-2009 05:34 PM

it is easier to search at any convinience store.. :)

DevilHunter04 06-05-2009 08:54 PM

I would like to try it. I'm gonna have to check out the Japanese Market over by my house.

joeyj 06-05-2009 09:54 PM

I want to try it! I wonder what the heck pepsi is thinking with Pepsi Basil? I just can't imagine how that would taste

Same here. It's really nice, but I guess I notice that stuff more so than others because of my graphic design interest.

Their makin Pepsi Basil? YUCK!

SHAD0W 06-09-2009 01:44 AM

Any news on how this tastes?

JayT 06-09-2009 03:28 AM

Haha I just saw this at my AM/PM in Shinjuku,
looked interesting but there was only diet D:

Nagoyankee 06-09-2009 05:31 AM

Alright people, I just bought a bottle. :D

This tastes interesting. It's close to Diet Coke. The tea flavor is there, but I kinda had to look for it on my first sip. After the first sip, though, you recognize it more clearly. Yes, it even gives you a light green tea aftertaste. Older people who were reluctant to drink Coke might find it easier to drink.

I think Coca Cola is serious about this new product. It's nothing like the Pepsi Ice Cucumber from a couple of years ago, which was totally a marketing/advertisement gimmick by Pepsi Japan.

You're the only person who has said that so far. What countries are they?

Diet Coke Plus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The drink was released in the United Kingdom in October 2007, available in two variants, one with vitamins B3, B12, and vitamin C, and the other containing antioxidants with added green tea and vitamin C."

I'm sure I've seen it in France as well...

Huh? I've never seen this? Unless it contained it but didn't advertise it?

Tip: Don't quote from wikipedia.. lol

Aifuuko 06-09-2009 09:08 PM

In Spain there's just normal cola XDDD
I would really like to taste that flavoured ones

If I could quote my memory I would, but that technology doesn't exist yet. lol.

Anyway, Wiki is usually the last place I quote, but this isn't exactly some important debate... it's Coke! Plus, there're lots of pics and reviews of this plus tea out there... Especially on food enthusiasts' blogs.!

xYinniex 06-10-2009 02:36 PM

Now that you mention that UK has released it, I do remember seeing SOME adverts...

kyo_9 06-10-2009 04:23 PM

haven't seen the latest coke green tea product..
I wonder if it is released All Japan or inside kantou only...

Nendoroid 06-10-2009 06:48 PM

We need paper flavored coke.

Just kidding. :P We need vanilla back!

Sblegach 06-13-2009 03:14 PM

Thats ridiculous!!!

Green Tea is a blast of flavor that rushes through your system and energizes the soul!!!

Coco Cola is a drug induced beverage that slows you down and makes you die faster!!!!!!!!!! >=o

Well thats coming from a non soda drinker >_> the two shouldnt be combined in my opinion...
