Japanese Beer - 08-06-2009, 08:45 PM

What's your favorite Japanese beer? -or maybe just any beer in general.

My favorite Japanese beer is Sapporo. They say it's Japan's oldest beer, I say it's the best. Another good one is Asahi super dry. Very tastey.

I just hate the taxes you pay on it in the states. If anyone knows, how much can you buy a single bottle for in Japan? Sapporo and/or Asahi.

I didn't know you could buy Sapporo here, in the U.S.
I have seen a sign for it on the outside of a restaurant in Mpls., though.

Beer is expensive in Japan, much more than here.

Just a can of Sapporo is more than 2 dollars.

Bars are more like $5.

The main reason why I switched over to shochu, particularly Awamori.

I figured if the bar was going to charge 500 yen either way, might as well enjoy something with a bigger kick.

Haha - I had no idea you could buy beer in the middle of the street like that! Especially in a vending machine! Excellent.

That can looks to be a 16oz. size. I would pay $2+ for a 16oz. Sapporo any day of the week. I can buy a 12oz. bottle here in Alabama for just under $2. I pay nearly $9 for a six pack of that stuff.

What size bottle is that Asahi? It looks like a 750ml!

For some reason I usually don't really drink American beers, more mixed drinks and various vodkas.

But when I'm with my girlfriend we usually drink キリンチューハイ氷結. Even though that isn't necessarily beer.

Japanese beers... I like Asahi Black, Orion original, or Kirin Lager.

There's a Japanese convenient store right down the road and I'm pretty sure I've seen all of these in there, along with various sake. So you should be able buy some Sapporo at Japanese store in Florida too. Don't know the price.

EDIT: Also, this video has some stuff about Japanese beer in it. Skip ahead to about 3:00

Tell what? It's a nice strong beer that gets me wasted.
