Natto?

I'm thinking of ordering some natto from this website, but I'm confused as to the different types?

Or are these merely just different brands?
Whats the difference between oroshi natto and Mameki natto?
Any help at all is greatly appreciated!

Nobody knows?

I live in Japan, am fond of natto, but have never heard of those two types, sorry. Why not just take the plunge and order either one of both of them? Natto does not vary that much- basically just sticky, smelly beans.

Thanks!
I think I'll order both.

I realize its done but it really bugged me why they were all different, the ingredients are all different.

Oroshi- Soy bean, radish, sugar, soy sauce (water, soybean, wheat, salt), vinegar, salt, bonito extract, monosodium glutamate, flavor, citric acid, xanthan, high fructose, corn syrup.

Mameki- Soy bean, high fructose corn syrup, salt, soy sauce (water, soybean, wheat, salt), bonito extract, vinegar, fish sauce, monosodium glutamate, mustard seed, natural color (turmeric), citric acid.

It seems one is vegetarian and the other isn't basically.

Neither is completely vegetarian. Bonito is a fish. But those are just the sauces. By using regular soysauce instead of the sauces that come in the package, both will be vegetarian.

The main difference among all those brands is the kind of sauce that comes with them.

I said Vegetarian not Vegan...

Vegetarians [sometimes] eat fish or chicken and drink milk and eat cheese.

Vegans eat nothing but veggies and soy products.

Man, I love natto... yum....

How many times do you stir your natto?

I personally stir mine approximately 20 times before eating. Any more and it is too sticky and slimy. Any less and I get globs of mustard. It hurts so good.

Every vegetarian seems to have a different definition. The vegetarians I know would not want to eat bonito.
