Durian was truly delicious..
I was surprised to know that people did not want to try it since other people rated it poor??

Actually, I did eat durian chips and they weren't bad.

I think that is a good comparison and we can add natto for Japanese foods. I have never known anyone to be neutral about marmite, durian or natto.
Because I love natto and the other two repulse me, I can empathize with those who like the others and despise natto.

Hmmm, do the chips have the "aroma" (stench)? If not, I would try them.

I`m neutral about all 3, so now you know of someone.
I will eat marmite/vegemite if available on occasion (hotels?), but see no need to purchase it. Can`t say I really like it, but also cannot say I dislike it.
Durian is alright, but nothing to rave about. If I get one or something durian flavored as a gift I`ll eat it - but wouldn`t bother with it myself.
Natto is alright, but also nothing to bother with buying. If it`s there I`ll eat it, otherwise not.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

In the spirit of investigation, my mum bought me some 'durian cake' from London. It's 88% Durian fruit flesh pureed with 12% sugar. Basically a tube of durian fruit paste.

It didn't smell much; i'd kept it chilled, and it had a very faint apple-ish scent overlaid with something I couldn't identify. It tasted... really, really quite rancid. Like fetid old Camembert. I chewed determinedly for a while to see if it improved at all. I then gagged and spat it down the toilet and hastily brushed my teeth wailing, "Oh god, oh god, that is DISGUSTING!"

I'm willing to admit that maybe it wasn't good quality or very fresh which might have affected the flavor, but I don't think I'll be trying it again. Blech...

i think durian is okay, the flavor is not bad. i think durian actually smells nice ~ hehe
i know that for ppl who doesn't eat it; is because it smells. although it may have a strong fragrance, the taste of it isn't bad .
it's like those food that for some it smell really bad to ppl, but when it's eaten, you will change your mind of your perspective. i'll say it goes the same for durian.
i've known ppl i've come across with online and online friends who are in malaysia. 99.9% of them love durian. it's very very popular in malaysia, that's why they even have a durian festival there too, i think.
