Japanese spoons - 12-10-2009, 11:59 AM

I'm curious about spoons in Japan. Since the usage of spoons in Japanese cuisine (except the modern ones) is not common, how does Japanese spoons look like?

Very similar to Chinese, just a little longer and thinner.

They're usually made of plastic, though, in most restaurants.

Marble? That would be very unusual because of the effort required to shape and smooth it. Also marble is even less heat resistant than some ceramics. Is it an art piece, or actually intended for use?

I can't recall the last time I actually was given one in a restaurant that wasn't plastic. I have a pair of ceramic ones at home, but most of the time use my plastic ones. There's less worry about chipping or breaking them.
