How do you call these kind of foods which

1) eat it during drinking alcohol
2) not sweet, rather salty or spicy
3) not for children

We call them TSUMAMI, O-TSUMAMI or SAKE NO SAKANA.

Here is an example "dried seaweed chip with sesame".

It's dried seaweed (WAKAME) with sesame as described.

Be careful! It's very hard and sometimes hurts your mouth at inside.

Oh, do you mean EI-HIRE (Fin of Stingray)?

And you call such kind of stuff as beer food. I see. Thank you.

ししゃも - 05-11-2009, 11:41 AM

ししゃも; Shishamo (sometimes with roe)

Dried by the sunlight for preservation,

Grilled on fire,

Then served.

Once I introduced this shishamo to a girl from US. She said "it seems to be screaming... May I remove its head?". We allowed her to remove the head but she could not enjoy it.

柿ピー - 05-11-2009, 12:24 PM

柿ピー: 柿の種 with ピーナッツ; seeds of parsimmon with peanuts

"seeds of parsimmon" is not real seeds. they are rice cake coated by soy sauce.

In small package.

Every time I visited Germany, local people loved these packs very much because of its spicy taste.
