Question Atx & Sup3rfr3sh - 11-28-2007, 07:05 PM

I am doing some designs for ATX and SUP3RFR3SH - can someone help me with writing these names in Japanese? I need it Kanji and other alphabet/styles if possible.

Either point me to an online resource or attach a PDF or other graphic file.

Thanks for any help.

Those names would be written in English. Abbreviations in letters cannot be written in kanji. Kanji represents meanings, not sound.

You could spell the words "ATX" and "Superfresh" phonetically in Japanese katakana:

ATX: エーティーエックス
Superfresh: スーパーフレッシュ

Those just say "ee tii ekkusu" and "suupaafuresshu" respectively. But that's as "Japanese" as you can get for your designs, I think.

Question 11-29-2007, 04:54 PM

Thanks, Nattybumppo, for your quick response. Very helpful.

The word Sup3rfr3sh has '3's instead of 'e's, so how should I change your "スーパーフレッシュ"?

Also, can you have 'super' and fresh' in 2 separate symbols?

Are there symbols/katakana for 'brand' 'number one' and 'streetwear' ?

Lastly, can you put AESTHETIX phonetically in Japanese katakana, please.

Please let me know.
Thanks so much.

I'll help a little. KATAKANA is a phoetic system. There isn't any way to put three's in there and have people still be able to read it. "3" in Japanese can't replace "e" because there is no "e" to replace.

スーパー super
フレッシュ fresh

(be careful. "スーパー super" by itself means "supermarket" or "grocery store")

I'll leave the last one for someone else.

Considering you're doing this for a commercial company, you should be paying us! ...Whatever.

Can't be done, that I can think of. Japanese can't randomly replace characters with 3's and have it still be understandable. You're the designer; play around with the characters and see if you could replace any of them with something "cool."
