Help with the passive form.
 

I have been studying the passive forms alot recently and you know the easy ones were no problem 言われる、　呼ばれる..etc. But one thing that bugs me and that I cant really get a good explanation in english about is 思われる？
Just to get the meaning in english would be great.

思われる means "to be thought." For example, "私は悪い人だと思われた" means
"I was thought to be a bad person." Does it make sense to you?

Nope sure as hell doesn't

思われる is used in rather formal occasions, such as "Hillary Clinton is thought to win the election" or "probably, Hillary Clinton will win the election".
Or, "it will rain tomorrow in Tokyo region."
東京地方は明日、雨になるものと思われる。
In other words, 思われる means "it is thought that -".

Makes sense to me, actually.

But kIyo's right; 思われる is usually used to talk about a third party believing something to be true, like the English "they think that XXX." It's not used as your normal passive nearly as much as some other verbs.

Since I'm still weak with kanji (my verbs are still mostly Hiragana), does 思われる say Omowareru?
