what does this word mean? - 02-24-2008, 12:28 PM

alright, so there's this one word which I've fallen in love with but I want to make sure I've got the meaning right...

Zetsuai

I think it conveys desperation, despair and obsession and such in love...
anyone ever heard of this word? Cos if it means what I think it means...man, we should have a word like that in English

Okay, I've never heard of "zetsuai" (and neither has my dictionary), but when you mentioned despair, 絶望 "zetsubou" came to mind.

Are you sure it wasn't 絶望的な愛 "zetsubouteki na ai"? (hopeless love). Maybe it's an improper abbrieviation of that?

僕の彼女だよ、マジで ^___^ (モモちゃん)
