Exclamation The Best NINTENDO DS Study Guide... - 04-27-2008, 01:54 AM

NINTENDO ...
have created a number of tools for learning Japanese on the DS, but has anyone out there tried them?

I have the Kanji Sonomama Rakubiki Jiten (漢字そのまま楽引辞典), which is a great Japanese dictionary, but I know others are available teaching Kanji Stroke Skills and featuring Japanese Language Tests etc.

Also I heard the Japanese version of The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourlgass on the DS was good for testing Kanji skills beacause by tapping the Kanji In character conversations, the Hiragana is automatically shown.

Here's the (ahem!) link:

YouTube - Kanji help: Zelda Phantom Hourglass

So do you also know any good Japanese GAMES that make good learning tools?

I use Kanji Sonomama Rakubiki Jiten almost daily. It's worth buying a DS for.

I use 200万人の漢検.

It's a good title to review the kanji you've already learned.
For actually *learning* kanji, I prefer the old pen&sheet way...

Has anyone tried the new DS Bimoji Training. Great for practising the stroke order of Kanji/Kana.

Even comes with a 'Brush' stylus...

I almost bought that this spring, but didn't think I was diligent enough to actually use it.

The reality is that I almost never need to WRITE a kanji, although it is the only way to memorize them.
