Hi, it's me again. I got a couple of questions.
Sometimes there are some sentences end with きゃ like 飲まなきゃ. Is it just expression word with no meaning? And there is this sentences: 絶対だめってこたないし Can you do a grammar breakdown, too ?Thank you, |

飲まなければならない > 飲まなければ > 飲まなきゃ = I've got to drink. Those three phrases are in the order of formality. verb + なきゃ = Gotta do something. 行かなきゃ、食べなきゃ、書かなきゃ = gotta go, gotta eat, gotta write ・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・ ・・・・・・・・・・ 絶対だめってことはないし > 絶対だめってこたないし = It's not that (something) is completely out of the question. 絶対 = utterly, completely, definately だめ = no way, no good, impossible, out of the question, etc.. ~~ ってことはない(こたない) = it's not the case that ~~ The し ending is very common in casual speech. It means the same thing as です. But a foraml word like です doesn't belong in a live, informal speech like this. ・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・ Both なきゃ and こたないし are originally pretty much Tokyo-style speech. But because of the large influence of the mass media, you will hear these all over the country now. |

Hello everybody!
I tried and tried but could not understand the second sentence at all...i would really appreciate it if somebody could help me with this one. By the way i'm ラウール君 (i have included the other two because they were in the same paragraph) 私が買った雑貨は日本人がメキシコで買い付けたものを 日本で売っているよ。 ラウール君も目にしたことがあるかもしれないね? あとで写真を送ってみようかな? |

The second sentence means "You may have seen (those items bought in Mexico.)" 目にする = to see something. 目にしたことがある = (someone) has seen (something) |
