Can this song sing by a male?

Hi guys,

I really love the song "Moonshine" by Matsushita Nao. I know that japanese male and female sometimes use different kind words... I wonder if a guy can sing the song below, here is the song with lyrics:

Quote:

Moonshine〜

compose: Matsumoto Toshiaki
lyric: Matsuo Kiyoshi
arrange: Abe Jun
singer: Matsushita Nao

onegai soba ni ite yo, sugu ni nemuru kara
tsuki no kagayaku yoru ga madobe made kiteru
kokoro ni kaketeta, kagi wo hazushita

itami sae mo itsuka wa omoide e to kawaru kara
yasashii yume wo mi nagara nemuritai asa ga kuru made

shiawasena yoru ga aru, nemurenai yoru mo
sono dochira mo anata ga watashi ni kureta ne
ashita wa watashi mo mori wo dete yuku

hashiri dashita omoi no yukisaki wa shiranai kedo
hikari no terasu anata e susundeku shinjiru mama ni

hoozuri shitara tokechai souna yokogao
tonari ni zutto itai kedo

yume no mori ga sugoshita toki wo kitto wasurenai
saigo no watare jyanai yo
arigatou yawarakana hibi

sayounara mata au hi made
I don't know the meaning of this song...I wonder if the wording and meaning is suitable for a guy as well?

Thanks :)

For songs, it probably doesn't matter.

iPhantom 08-30-2008 11:36 PM

Songs aren't gender-specific.

Sure they are.

But this one looks alright to me.

They just suit more on genders, it's just the audience that gets pleased by a certain gender more than the other.

Let alone lyrics...

Some songs are meant to be sung by men, and some by women. In Japanese men and women use different words for "I" and "you", especially in songs, so they certainly are gender-specific.

This is also true of songs in English: "My Girl" "Natural Woman" "This Guy's In Love With You"...all really gender-specific.

Thx for all your replies guys. :)

I couldn't find the English translation for these 2 songs. Is it possible to briefly translate those for me? thx

RadioKid 08-31-2008 01:36 AM

Even though some words are gender specific, Japanese people do not mind about the gender of the singer.

Not only for the gender, why do you mind about any other situation in the song? The world of a song is just virtual one. I will sing a song as it is even if the song is saying "I'm 8 years old little girl living in palace in NY".

It might be based on of cultual differences.

Thank you.

Regards,
RK

OMG... there are no-lifers in JF!!! Didn't even think bout it.

owakulukem 10-17-2008 07:52 PM

I did this quickly, so there might be a few mistakes, but here you go.

onegai soba ni ite yo, sugu ni nemuru kara
tsuki no kagayaku yoru ga madobe made kiteru
kokoro ni kaketeta, kagi wo hazushita

Please stay by my side, I'll fall asleep soon.
The moon lit sky comes in through the window,
My locked heart has now been opened.

itami sae mo itsuka wa omoide e to kawaru kara
yasashii yume wo mi nagara nemuritai asa ga kuru made

Even the pain will someday become a memory,
Until the morning comes I want to have sweet dreams.

shiawasena yoru ga aru, nemurenai yoru mo
sono dochira mo anata ga watashi ni kureta ne
ashita wa watashi mo mori wo dete yuku

A peacful night, even a restless night, either way
you have given me both.
Tomorrow I too will leave the forest.

hashiri dashita omoi no yukisaki wa shiranai kedo
hikari no terasu anata e susundeku shinjiru mama ni

My thoughts are running, but I don't know where they are headed,
I have to believe I am heading towards you shining with light.

hoozuri shitara tokechai souna yokogao
tonari ni zutto itai kedo

If I could, I would melt nestling into the side of your face.
I want to be by your side forever.

yume no mori ga sugoshita toki wo kitto wasurenai
saigo no wakare janai yo
arigatou yawarakana hibi

The time I've spent in the forest of my dreams I'm sure I'll never forget.
This is not the last time we will seperate.
Thank you for the kind days.

sayounara mata au hi made

Goodbye, until we meet again.

owakulukem 10-18-2008 11:36 PM

nagareru kumo yori mo hayaku
bokura kawatte yuku kedo
wasurenai kimi to aruita eien no ano keshiki wo

We are changing quicker than the flowing clouds but I won't forget that endless scenery that we walked together through.

hajimete himitsu wo hanashita kaerimichi wo oboeteru yo
tooku no umi ni shizundeku yuuhi ga nijindeta

Walking back, I remember the first time we talked about our secrets. The distant sun setting into the ocean.

kataku kokoro tojita ano hi no boku ni
hitoribocchi jyanai koto kimi ga oshiete kureta n da

I had shut my heart so hard, but that day you taught me that I am not alone

nagareru kumo yori mo hayaku bokura kawatte yuku kedo
wasurenai kimi no namida wo sashidashite kureta ryoute wo

We are changing quicker than the flowing clouds, but I won't forget your tears, or your hands offered to me.

I know that under this same sky somewhere as I embrace in my heart the knowledge that you too refuse to quit I search for a tomorrow.

itami kakusu koto bakari jouzu ni natta ima demo
honto ni kurushii yoru ni wa omoidashiteru

even now as I have become good at hiding my pain I still remember that very painful night.

mukoukishi mezashite oyogitsuzuketa
miageta sora ni atarashii taiyou ga kagayaiteta koto wo

I awoke on the opposite shore and as I kept swiming I lifted my eyes to see the bright new shining sun.

nani hitotsu mottenai kedo nani mo kamo ga soko ni atta
ano natsu wo bokura ikiteta doko made mo tada massugu ni

I don't have anything, but there was something there in that summer where we both simply kept going forever forward.

donna mirai ga mattete mo donna yume ni mayou toki mo
iroasenai omoidetachi ga kono senaka oshite kureru yo

What ever the future holds, however my dreams wander, my fading memories are pushing me along.

nagareru kumo yori mo hayaku bokura kawatte yuku kedo
wasurenai kimi to aruita eien no ano keshiki wo

We are changing quicker than the flowing clouds but I won't forget that endless scenery that we walked together through.

Well they could be song by a girl (my girl) if she's singing to her girlfriend or something.

Mostly, boy or girl is not matter. If song, maybe poem girl can say 僕 and O.K. and normal. If music good, words anything.
