I've read through all the posts here, and i didn't Anki! Im learning my words with it, and im doing pretty good till now... i learn about 20 words per day  ... and i just started learning.

Anki - Flashcard Learning Software

And i'd say Wikibooks has some very useful Japanese studying tools:

Wikibooks - Japanese

This book has some pretty interesting Kanji teaching methods here. It helps you more by memorizing the forms, not the definitions and readings:

333 Kanji in a Day

And... yeah, the other stuff i use was already listed so, i'll just list this.

I don't know if anyones mentioned

123 Japanese - Learn Japanese for free online

Its a free website. It has vocabulary dictionarys full of pretty much anything....lists of all the mammals, fruits....etc.

It has lessons too, in casual Japanaese and polite Japanese.

What I like most about it, is that it teaches Japanese from very basic stuff, to more advanced, other websites i've found just toss stuff in your face.

Different websites have different pros and cons.

Learn Japanese online. With our podcast, learning Japanese is easy. | JapanesePod101.com

Pro:That website is great if you like to listen to your lessons as well as have written stuff.
Con: You have to pay, only 5% of the content is free, the good stuff you gotta pay for.

Japanese Lessons with Maggie

Pro: This website has lessons about stuff other websites 'don't seem to cover'. They have very in depth lessons on natural Japanese terms, used in Japan.
Con: It doesn't have a 'start to finsih' feel to it. It doesn't start from the basics to end, its all just random information and lessons

123 Japanese - Learn Japanese for free online
Pro: This website has lots of lessons that follow a 'start to finish' order. It covers polite and casual Japanese lessons.
Cons: it doesn't have a lot of audio, so for the most part, you have to guess pronunciations

Japanese Grammar Guide | Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese
Pro: This website covers everything to do with Japanese grammar. They teach you useing mostly the 'literal' meaning of things, and explain how to change each forum of verbs and adjectives.
Cons: its only really meant as a grammar guild, it doesn't have a lot of vocabulary

Learn Japanese - Japanese Language
Pro: this website has a lot of content covering a wide range of topics
Cons: Its hard to find stuff, its not very well organised. It only gives you sentences and translations, not a lot of 'lesson' structure.

The best Japanese learning sources online are Japanese websites made by Japanese people. Not English websites about Japanese.

My 3rd post in this forum :rheart: it.

I do not know if this is similar to rikai.com, but there is an add-ons for firefox name rikaichan, it is the best add-ons for those who are learning Japanese.

1. it give you furigana (how to read kanji in Japanese)
2. it give you meaning to kanji , hiragana, katakana
3. it give you description of the words
4. but to use this you must able to read kana. of course the description and meanings are in English.

this is the add-ons (only for Firefox tho)

I made apps when I was learning hiragana and katakana to help me out and release them for free.
