Post A question about writing. - 03-24-2009, 11:28 PM

I am, like many others on this board, is working hard to learn it. One thing I have been doing is trying to write up a short stories in Japanese, but I am having some trouble with some words and grammar and before I get too serious I was wondering if there is a site for Japanese beta readers out there?

Thanks in advance, and if you need any more information just ask.

Personally, I need more information. Call me a noob, but I have no idea what you mean by "Japanese beta readers"

You mean, people who will read your stories? Or.....I have no clue. More info, and I'm sure I can help.

It would help to know how much grammar you know. You should just try google or browse through the post history here - there are links to Japanese-learning sites in almost every thread it seems like. If you have specific questions about something (which particles should I use after this, etc.) then just ask those here if you can't find them through google.

To Jesselt:

I know some grammar particles, such as the use of -masen (the negative form of something such as mimasen, "not looking"), (w)o, topic direction, wa, topic maker, ka, question marker. I do know enough to possibly string together a sentence but I have some trouble telling if I am using the right particles and/or if it sounds good.

To AlanX:

In a sense, I am looking for an editor to look it over to tell about mistakes and suggest anything to make it better.

OHH. That's easy, my friend. Just post your work in the "Japanese Help" thread here on JF, and someone will always help

I wouldn't call "masen" a particle. It's a verbal postfix.
