Just wanted to know if it's true what he said.

Hope you can help me out and tell me what it means.

It means "great effort"

Please, I hope that isn't going to be a tattoo

purposefulness? I don't even know what that means.

Ambition is 野心 or 野望

Hi.
野望 will be very cool as a tattoo.
努力 is too serious.

Hello, I may not understand English very well and I may lack words but I will try to understand you.

If you have questions about my post or Japanese customs, don't hesitate to ask.

Maybe I am completely wrong... but after months of serious studies of Japanese, but having it written it for years (in the past without serious grammar studies) I still make kanji that look like crap. We all know how easy is to get a kanji wrong and make it look like something else...

Do tattoo makers know this? Or they think they can redo any kind of picture perfectly? Above all if they take a hand written kanji as source of their tattoo...OUCH!
