how to write konnichi wa?

Is it written in Kanji or hiragana?

It's written in hiragana

こんにちは

Miyavifan 04-07-2009 07:49 PM

Honestly it can be written either way. It will just depend on who you are speaking to. There is nothing wrong with it in hirgana though.

Completely disagreed.

Nearly all Japanese would read 「今日は」 as 「きょうは= Today is ~~」 and not 「こんにちは」. That's how it's taught in Japanese schools.

Yeah, when I was reading what you wrote, I read it as "kyou wa" not konnichi wa.

Every once in a while, you will hit upon it in a book... And end up doing a double take if it doesn`t have ふりがな at the side.

It can be written as 今日は, but that doesn`t mean that anyone ever does.
