Is this correct?

Hello all. I am totally new to this forum and am currently trying to learn Japanese. I decided to start with writing kana and I am using Pimsleur Japanese to learn how to talk it.

This is my first attempt at writing anything in Japanese so I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if it is correct? Hopefully you can understand it, that is why I am not going to tell you what I was trying to write. Sorry if this is painfully easy for you guys haha.

Sorry for it being an image. I cannot type Japanese symbols for some reason, even though I can see them when other people type them.

Thanks!

To me, the first kana looks like an non-existing one.

Did you mean to write ?

MattKnift 04-08-2009 05:06 PM

Yes I meant 'wa', I really have no idea why I wrote the one I did.

Looks like my vowel lessons stuck in my head too much as the one I wrote looks a bit like the one for O but without the little dash.

Your マ looks almost like a ユ and your ツ should probably be smaller. I'm just a handwriting Nazi though~

Ok thanks for the tips.

Does it make sense though?

Yes, it makes sense.
You are matt. :p

LOL weird, at first sight I thought it was saying "you are Matt"...instead of わたし I had read おたく. After that I read it あたし and even there made no sense since Matt is a male name. Only when I saw the huge わ in the next post I got it ;) stupid me hee hee

Great, thanks for the help guys. I am glad my first sentence is understandable at least :)

Your "shi" looks much like an L. Try to make it more of a backwards J.

And the first character sure is odd... it's like an "O", but it doesn't have that little mark to the side. A "wa" definately does not look like that.

Other than that, for your first try, you did great on the rest of the characters!
