Yeah, I was just baffled because my teacher has the exact same mac (2009) as me and she has the IME pad, but I just found out she has Office 2003 on hers and i've got 2008. Apparently Snow Leopard will have a widget that means you can IME kanji using the trackpad so hopefully they'll back-date it one as well for .5 users too.

PS: spamming the thread, but can you get furigana on yours?

Do you mean in Office?

I know I can get furigana in OpenOffice, but I've never tried in Office 2008. I've seen furigana online, too. I was very surprised by that.

Yes, office. It's ok, I just figured it out. For MSO 2008 you just have to enable the language register and then highlight the text. The furigana is then under format-> phonic guide. Not as sophisticated as proper MS versions though; doesn't just pick out the kanji but rather repeats the whole sentence.

Edit: Neat! You can make the text vertical too!
