Help translating the text in this picture please? - 03-02-2010, 05:32 PM

Hey there!

I took this photo on my trip to Tokyo and wondered what it says. I can understand the hiragana and katakana individually but I can't work out what it adds up to.

It's signed Mateja? (Ma-te-ya)

Thanks!

Kaede

Kind regards,
Kaede

It is a wish card saying, basically "I wish to meet the frogs again. I wish to be together again. I love you! -Mateya."

Awesome, haha! That explains the little picture in the bottom left.

Could someone with a little bit of time break down the text for me? I'm only making out 'mata' (again) at the beginning of the sentence. The rest is a combination of words I don't think I'm familiar with.

Cheers
K

EDIT: I think they've misspelled 'frog'? (kaeru not kairu?)

Kind regards,
Kaede

Looks a lot more like Kyle than frogs to me...
And also it`s pretty clear that it was written by a non-native speaker, so I am willing to bet that it`s about a Kyle who there is some inside joke as to his name sounding like frog.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

As someone whose name is "Kyle" and was often called "frog" in Japan as a gag, I'd like to point out it's written カイル (Kyle) and not カエル (frog).

ケロケロか? :3

I was making that assumption, too, when I saw English on the paper behind that.

the second word カイル is the person's name Kyle, the next word 会える(あえる) means can meet, ように can be thought of as saying "so that".... or just expressing a wish..

the second line starting with 一緒に (いっしょ)に means together いられる is the potential form (can form) of the verb いる meaning, to exist or be present etc... ように is the same as the first line

and the third line 大好き (だいすき) basically means I like you a lot or I love you.

Is that the breakdown you were looking for?

I assumed she was misspelling カエル because of the picture at the bottom...but the "gag" makes sense.

RickOShay, that is fantastic thank you very much. I actually knew some of those words, just not in the forms shown here asI'm still a beginner.

Thanks very much!

Regards,
K

I think since the writing was obviously made by a non-native, you were fully justified in assuming it was a typo (write-o?) and not a person's name.
