I don't mean to help you guys derail further, but we don't call なadjectives "形容詞" in Japanese. They are called 形容動詞. Accordingly, ナ形容詞 is also just the forced translation of the English term "na-adjective", which originally never existed in Japanese. It never existed because, as I stated, we don't consider what you call "na-adjectives" to be 形容詞 = adjectives.

Ask your students if they have ever heard of the term ナ形容詞.

It's ironic that you say that because I always thought of "i-adjectives" as 形容詞... as for "na-adjectives"... I could never remember the word. Therefore I looked it up in a Japanese grammar book (written in Japanese) and it had ナ形容詞 written there... I had never seen it before, but I don't venture out and read Japanese too often so I wasn't suprised, but I did feel it was strange. I'm glad you taught me the real word though... I don't think I'll forget it this time haha.
