Japanese Characters on Sword
Hi all,
Today on an antique market I bought a sword, the typical Japanese kind :) and there are some characters on it. I do not read/write/speak the language, so I took some pictures of these characters and I wonder if some of you can tell me what it reads and means..? The number I can read: 30453 ;) Thanks very much, Jeroen Netherlands |

________ First image: "Seishirou Itagaki" Wow, most likely this fella: 板垣征四郎 - Wikipedia "Year 13 of Showa Era" --- > That's 1938 on your calendar. Second: Same as first Third: "Emperor" |
The sword that this was made for a tourist.
Than say a sword; an iron bar. This sword is sold in products made in China now. This souvenir is sold for around 50 euro in China, but can buy it for 10 euro if lower the price. |
Thanks Sashimister
That's very exciting. Just costed me 65 euro, just a little over 7000 Yen. Thanks for translating.
Do you by any chance know someone who knows more about these swords? That can maybe tell more about the history/background of it? Thanks again, Jeroen |

If you can separate the handle from the blade, it's probably worth about ten US dollars and is not a collector's item at all.
There appears to be a serial number on it, which indicates it's not a collector's item. |
