How did you learn japanese?

Ive been studying Japanese for a year now but i don`t have the money to study formally so instead for a year now iv`e been studying on my own. I basically used Genki 1, used "My Japanese coach" (for vocabulary ONLY) and i watch lots of drama which helped me with grammar (even if it was informal i could convert it into formal.) and i think there were some other things but i cant remember :P

So anyway, i would like to know the methods that others used to study/learn this language. What were yours?

I started by looking at random japanese words and then i took an actual class last year but it was only for one school year so thats all i learned.

I am learning from a book(pdf) "Tae Kim's guide to learning japanese" i think its good.
