Let's play Shiritori (しりとり)! - 11-05-2010, 02:37 PM

しりとり is a fun game that in my opinion will help us learn new words.
しりとり is a game in which the players say a word which begins with the same kana of the previous word. Players can use ひらがな (Hiragana), Katakana(かたかな), or Kanji (かんじ).
Here are the basic rules from Wikipedia
:
Quote:
- Two or more people take turns to play.
- Only nouns are permitted.
- A player who plays a word ending in the mora N (ん) loses the game, as no Japanese word begins with that character.
- Words may not be repeated.
Also, dakuten and handakuten may be ignored. So ぴ can become ひ.
Although I'm still a beginner in Japanese, I find the game pretty fun! Let's begin!

さかな (Fish)

The next person must write a noun that starts with な

みかた!
味方

(Ally, friend)

While I'm at it, (although this isn't my topic, just a suggestion,) why don't we all add kanji and English "translations" to the mix? That way, we get to learn even more.
