Help Wanted - 01-13-2011, 08:03 PM

I am interested in the Japanese culture and I also want to become a Manga-ka actually living in Japan, but I am not very fluent with the language. I only know bits and pieces, I don't want to go to Japan being innapropriate, so can someone help me?

(sorry for the bad grammar ^_^'')

Check the stickies threads for lots of helpful tips, then post back individual questions in the thread of questions.

Maybe try the looking for language exchange thread to find someone to give you more structured help too.

It will be a long hard journey to teach yourself over the Internet and with textbooks, so if you can afford it maybe look into personal tutors and classes, especially to get the speaking practise you need.
If you want to live in Japan eventually be prepared to study for the long haul and put a lot of hours in.
I am not really sure what your chances of becoming a manga-ka are realistically so don't pin all your hopes on that, just try to end up enjoying learning for the sake of learning.

Sounds alot like a kid's dream. Did you actually looked into what you need to get a Visa or the editor willing to give you a job?

Just so you know, you're in for a long road that will most likely take you over a decade to even move there. And that's assuming you're young enough to even become fluent enough to write entertaining work in Japanese.
