Translation help. - 08-03-2011, 02:32 AM

Friends, I am seeking the aid of someone who can help me decipher the writing that I have found on the bottom of an old Tansu box.

It may be upside down. I would love to find out what the writing says, and any help at all would be appreciated.

Thank you all,

Jesse

VERY interesting and I don't say that often! I wish I could read all of it. We Japanese get dumber every generation. I'm like: "How good is a university education if it does not help you read what was written only a couple of generations back?"

The parts that I understand:

"This box is made of osier/willow."
"August, Year 3 of Taisho Era" Google for Western year equivalent.
"Mr. Ichuu Jiro of Kawahara" = name of the furniture maker, I am sure.
"Expected wages of 80 Osaka 'something'" Pretty sure it's the price of the biox.
"For use by Hara Clothing Store"
