Android VS Iphone - which apps are better for learning Japanese? - 11-13-2011, 11:37 AM

Android VS Iphone - which apps are better for learning Japanese?

It's coming to the time where I upgrade my phone. I already use an iphone 3G, but I'm not sure if I should upgrade to 4S or Samsung Galaxy S2. The S2 has better specs in seemingly every way, but does it have the same variety of apps for learning Japanese?

I'm currently using
Kotoba! - A dictionary
JLPT study - Kanji and vocab flash cards.

Which apps do you use for your iphone, or android? How would you rate them?

I'm sorry for all the bad stuff I said and all the feelings I hurt.. Please forgive me

On my 4S, I have Midori, KanjiBox, and Japanese.... I like Midori best of all, but it's not really a learning tool as much as it is a reference tool....

I have Kotoba for reference and Japangoggles (if and when it works) to find out kanji I don't recognize. But for a learning tool, I use かな・かな. It's a vocabulary builder, with a bunch of hirakana floating on the screen. You must form words with them by moving them around, any combo will do. There are different levels, where you must make words corresponding to certain theme, etc. It's the first time I've encountered the concepts "learning in Japan" and "fun" in connection with each other.

I only have a two year old iPod Touch and I have the Kotoba apps installed on it and I am satistied. It serve its purpose.

one nice thing about android, is that you can create your own application without submitting it like in iPhone apps, so you can basically tailored any application you want. So I think you can find more appli available on android, for free.

I think application for learning Japanese are readily available on both smart phone

But personally, Im old-schooled so I still like learning from text box
