Something in japanese I don't understand

Hello everyone. Could someone tell me what 良い女の子である means? I'm not sure if its rude... Sorry if it is. Thank you all :)

Gorotsuki 06-29-2007 03:56 PM

良い女の子である

いい おんな の こ である
good girl to be

Or something.

hanes 06-29-2007 04:10 PM

gorotsuki's break down is correct. just put it into a normal sentence =
you are/she is(no specific subject) a good girl.

82riceballs 06-29-2007 08:13 PM

yoi onna no ko de aru.
Isn't である a very polite form of です? If that's true, then this phrase is very very polite. It's like "Good girl!"

Gorotsuki 06-29-2007 10:37 PM

Maybe more polite thers more polite ways then that.

Debezo 06-30-2007 02:09 PM

dearu is a literary/explanation-like expression. it is formal but not polite. and it is hardly used in daily conversation.
