Computer/Japanese question

This may seem stupid, but how do you get Japanese to display on Windows (specifically, Windows XP)? I keep on seeing "?????" where I know that someone is typing Japanese.

Please help me!

go to the control panel >date, time, language > Regional and language settings > under language tab check install files for east asian languages.

In your browser (mozilla) go to View > Character encoding > japanese
