The first one ’商い中’ means 'open'. The second one '仕込み中' means 'closed'. Those are store/eatery signs.

Sorry but i would like to add what the two phrases literally mean. The first one means 'in business' and the second 'in preparations'. The first sign is read as 'Akinaichuu' and the second 'Shikomichuu'.

hi,
i'm watching an anime called Kyou Kara Maou. The main character (Yuuri) says a word that sounds like "saybai" and it is translated to "punishment"

could you please find the correct word that matches the sound mentiond above?? and how many words for punishment are there in japanese???

Thanx

成敗

seibai

it means judgement or punishment.

I am not sure how many words there are for "punishment"...
