Most "Powerful" Japanese Movies - 02-23-2008, 10:19 PM

I recently watched and reviewed Grave of the Fireflies (review here).

I was stunned and totally caught off guard by the power of this film.
I am really hoping to find more Japanese movies to review that fall into such an amazing category of significance, but hopefully not as emotionally traumatic as Grave of the Fireflies.
I had to break this film into 4 parts to be able to bear its intensity.

Suggestions are welcome.

well, one that I have seen is Nobody Knows. It's sad but it's really good! One of my favorite movies, but I'm kinda afraid to watch it again because I know what happens.... But you should definitly see it.

Grave of the fireflies is indeed powerful, I even have it on dvd.

I agree with above post, Moon Child and Akira are a must. Princess Momonoke too.

ciao
