jibtv.com : Japan Live TV - NHK English News, Business News, Travel, entertainment & more

This channel shows NHK programming in English. I don't know if it is an exact duplicate of what they show in Japan, but it works for me! It has the programs I like, such as "Journeys in Japan", "Tokyo Eye", "Cool Japan" and "Begin Japanology"

They do repeat blocks of the programming during the entire day, but at least it's something... and it's free!!!

In fact, the NFL just filed a complaint against Dish Network for this purpose. Dish Network in the press release specifically stated that they moved NFL Network to their Top 200 package, because the NFL has decided to air the / Patriots Giants game on NBC and CBS and the NFL Network. This move cut into revenue.

There is only NHK world, but if you have relos in Japan with a decent network connection (just about everyone in Japan) next time you over there set one of these up or if they are computer literate send it to them to setup. Does not need to be plugged into the tv just a STB into an antenna and dish wall plate and the unit into the network (wired or wireless). I used splitter kits off of amazon.co.jp to split the cables behind the tv.

Vulkano Flow, Lava or Blast or Deluxe Pro.
Check this review Monsoon Multimedia Vulkano Flow Review — The Gadgeteer

I use one of these and it works ok. My daughter loves this as she can watch what her friends in Japan watch. Also I got the pro version so I can remotely record to the attached HD in Japan and then download it to here later. This works well for timeshifting shows and also gives the best (DVD) quality. I have it plugged into an IO Data STB. I can change channels from local digital to CS and BS channels as well. You need at least about 1MBps to get a decent picture but will be ok even down to like 3-400kbps. It does have a few hiccups but if you set it up correctly it is generally ok and is the only way I have found so far to get Japan tv. I have it setup on a HTPC next to the tv which gives it a high WAF.

Screen grab (PQ is higher on original grab) from my laptop last night - remotely streaming.

Try using Livestation. By far the best one I found so far.
Puts Keyhole TV to shame!
