Comedy? - 05-07-2009, 03:35 PM

Okay, firstly I'll be honest. I have done a search in this forum already, and the only thing I found vaguely helpful was a topic from 2007. Now, thats a long time ago in my little world, so I thought I'd open this thread, ask a few questions, try and start a discussion. Usual business really.

Anyway I'm highly stressed right now. Job, money, home, unemployment, stupid media, etc, etc. Basically I'm in need of a damned good laugh. And although over here in the UK we have some comedy shows (very bad ones in my opinion) we still have access to some classical humour to make people feel better. The Two Ronnies, Morecambe and Wise, Tommy Cooper, Monty Python, Ross Noble and Scrubs. Okay the last few are modern and one of thems imported (guess which one, I dare you ), but the point is that they're a laugh and good fun. But I digress, as normal for one of my rants.

Japanese comedy though is something thats completely new to me. I'll be off onto YouTube soon enough to go through whetever I can find or track down, but I thought I'd ask here just in case anyone had any suggestions. I'm in dire need of putting a smile on my face (Mr. J. Oker notwithstanding ) and relaxing a little. So, does anyone have any tips, or favourite shows. Hey even a good stand up comic would be great, I'm always looking for someone new to laugh at.

Catch you around?

This is a new style of Japanese commedy.

YouTube - Audrey "Shoplifting" オードリー 万引き (with English) (turn on the English subtitle as instructed)

I'm not sure if you can enjoy it because it is very difficult to translate their talking.

This one does not need translation (played 20 - 30 years ago).

YouTube - 8時だヨ!全員集合 - ドリフの大爆笑 - Japanese Comedy: Office Scene

Sorry for indecent actions.

I agree with whoever said Jim Gaffigan. Also, Stephen Lynch always makes me laugh, give him a shot.
