It is more and more popular to see younger with older women in jdrama.
Like in Slow Dance
I guess they are starting a trend or something !

yup
plus kimi wa petto introduced the world to ishihara satomi
im thankful for that

slow dance was one of those shows i watched to fill the time, and ended up actually liking
the ending could have been better tho
but it stayed true the formula for a romantic comedy drama

Koyuki > anything.

I actually watched slow dance to practice my japanese but I ended up liking it.
But as you say, the ending was lacking.

Compaqmac321 05-08-2009 04:54 AM

to practice??????
did you watch it raw
i do that with variety shows, except arashi no shukudai kun, domoto kyoudai and smapxsmap

Nah, I'm not good enough to watch it raw yet.
I'm practicing my hear and the more I listen to it, the more I recognize words and everything.

One of the best way to learn imo.

I've only watched the first three eps. As I mentioned elsewhere, seeing Jun play the part of Takeshi was weird to me since he has to be so upbeat and happy all the time for the role, since he is a pet and all. I like him better playing a character that's indifferent or serious or lax, so when Jun had to act serious in this role (like when his character is away from Sumire's home), I liked that about him.

That aside, I like it so far, then again, I like the manga, so it's no surprise that I like this drama. lol

Isn't it great that he can play different type of character ?
I guess it show his talent.

Yeah, it does, hence why I said, "I like that about him." Guess I worded it wrong. I like how he's serious, but the fact that he can act carefree and happy also shows how talented he is, imo.

I grew bored of this series too, but I grew bored after about five episodes despite what I said earlier in this thread. I prefer the manga.

She was about the right age, I think. Her name is Koyuki (just saw her in the drama I'm currently watching; Mr. Brain; she was in episode 2 as a guest along with Gackt). The actress was born in 1976. The drama is 2003. That would make her about 27, right? For the manga, Sumire's character is either 27 or 28. Jun, as Momo, was about the right age as well. Early 20s.

Yeah. The drama is based off of the manga, which probably goes way beyond what the drama did since this series was 2003 and the manga ended in 2005 in Japan. The series finished in the states in 2008. Either way, that's why I checked out the live-action version. In the US, the title was changed from Kimi wa Pet to Tramps Like Us. I don't get why they just didn't do a direct translation and just say "You are my Pet" or "My Pet" or whatever.

There are some characters in the drama who don't exist for the manga, and the main one that comes to mind is the psychiatrist with the dog and his assistant.

Kimi Wa Petto

I watched this drama a long time ago. I thought it was pretty good actually. It introduces the concept of a "parasite onna". Or basically women who regect Japanese female social norms by continuing their careers and marring later or not at all. The guy from Arashi is actually a decent actor in this I have only seen him in Hana Yori Dango and that was >.< The drama is a really unusal subject which I think makes it sooo interesting. Since the drama is so old im not sure where you can find it but I would giver it a 4 out of 5

Check out Jun in Gokusen. He was pretty cool for that too, although, for that, he was more serious compared to his goofy self for Kimi wa Petto.
