I like Akira Kurosawa films, the classics. The Last Samurai was great too, although it's not a Japanese movie, it still takes place in Japan.

Il like Kurosawa too. My favourite o his movies is Rashomon.
Then Miyazaki is great too, Mononoke, Laputa and Howl are his best movies imo.
Last year I watched oh-oku: the women of inner palace, in the plane on my way back, and I enjoyed it so much.
Last but not least I'd mention Akira.

yes for sure, grave of fireflies was excellent. possibly the saddest movie ever. it just kept getting worse and worse for that family, and what an ending

i recently watched 時をかける少女 (toki o kakeru shoujo) and i loved it!! but i didnt get why some of the events occured... :/
