They weren't as scary as the originals.

But I wouldn't say they "look funny" or are "so bad". The Grudge had the same director as Japanese originals, so I would like to hear what movies "look funny" or are "so bad".

In that sense I agree, I thought they were both pretty well made

I tried to watch The Grudge yesterday and only got about half an hour in before I turned off. I love Ju-on though.

They used way too much CGI in The Ring. The people who remake these movies need to learn that less is sometimes more.

Heh, heh For me - Ringu by Hideo Nakata and Ju-on by Takashi Shimizu were really good and latest american The Ring & The Grudge are nothing short of shameless parody.

I converted my home collection of J-horror movies from an outdated VHS to DVD format. And I never spend money for purchasing such primitive american versions as The Ring or The Grudge. They aren't even scary, but just boring.....
