Since you want recommendations, I'll be concise.
'爱 (ai)' or 'Love' - a Taiwanese melodrama about all political concepts and double-faces of "love". Plots and snappy retorts are in abundance. You can find reviews and comments, as well as details here: Links on "Taiwan Drama <爱>" | Facebook 'Personal Taste' - a top-ranking Korean drama on radical romance; a comical/intense, love/hate relationship between your everyday clumsy dolt of a girl and a prideful workaholic of a man. Drives emotions like no other. Actors/actresses are great lookers too! Personal Preference - DramaWiki 'The Curse (Noroi)' - a movie kinda like a Japanese counterpart of Paranormal Activities, except it scared the freaking sh!t out of me, more than P.A., even when you know everything's fake; my whole day just seemed weirdly spooky and alert (after) watching it. Takes a good deal of imagination and personal provocation to watch. There's no such thing as happy endings, for when you find true love, happiness is everlasting.

Here are some of my favorite Asian movies. Keep in mind I am a sucker for sad emotional movies so..
JAPANESE: Rainbow Song - really sad and beautiful and my favorite movie ever! I have seen it so many times because it makes me feel really emotional! Be With You - very sad, it made me cry, and a really nice story Nada Sou Sou - very sad and beautiful All About Lily Chou Chou - one of my favorites, it really makes you feel kind of weird but in a good way Picnic - sad and kind of scary movie. I really liked the music and story Instant Swamp - funny but sad and really good Midnight Sun - visually and musically amazing and sad Sweet Rain - unique and has some funny parts but is very sad. and here are just some more really good ones Linda Linda Linda Swallowtail Butterfly A Litre of Tears Love Letter Heaven's Bookstore Kamikaze Girls Only You Can Hear Me Dolls Hana and Alice KOREAN: Sad Movie - so beautiful and stunning and so so SO sad!! A Moment To Remember - really touching The Magicians - one of the best most amazing movies ever made Epitaph - the BEST korean movie in the world! Everyone should see this it is amazing! A Tale of Two Sisters - really popular wonderful kind of confusing movie I'm A Cybrog But That's Okay - a silly but really good and sweet movie and some very good horror ones but more importantly have a great story Hansel and Gretel - beautiful and amazing Red Shoes Hikikomori - really good and sad at the end Cello Whispering Corridors Voice Letter Wishing Stairs Blood Pledge Bunshinsaba Hidden Floor Cinderella Memento Mori - one of my favorites Acacia - really great Secret Tears - again really great I have a lot more I can't really remember right now, if you want, let me know!
