I just watched this movie today. Overall, a very charming experience. Me and my room-mate are both artists fresh off our BFA degrees (he is making paintings and sculpture inspired greatly by the Rococo era and it's gruesome end and I am making paintings involving personified toys and plush animals as stand-ins for abstracted adult human situations) and I found the pairing of both of our respective persuasions exciting and visually stimulating.

Light and airy with dark undertones...which is exactly what I would say both contemporary Japanese (sub)cultures and the Rococo period were (un)intentionally depicting.
