Japanese anime movie "君の名は：KIMI NO NA WA (your name)" has made great hit in Japan and will be released in UK in coming November.

Three more people visited theater to enjoy "KIMI NO NA WA" than the Shin-Godzilla (or Godzilla 2016) in their first week.

There are no official information in English. The trailer is also all in Japanese.



A high school boy living in Tokyo and a high school girl in rural area in Japan are exchanged their body and mind in their dreams (I do not understand the story enough yet).

Directed by Shinkai, Makoto.

I watched "KIMI NO NA WA" today.

It has nice story and beautiful pictures.

The story is a little bit complicated than "story of exchanging body and mind".

The theater was full of young people below 20.

Non Japanese people might need some back ground information to enjoy "KIMI NO NA WA".

There is another movie having the same name "KIMI NO NA WA" released in 1953.



I do not mean anime version is based on 1953 version.

However, the legendary movie "KIMI NO NA WA" and its name remind Japanese people of some sentimental feeling.

As for the Body/Mind exchange, there are several ancestors like as "転校生:TENKOU-SEI; transfer student" released in 1982. It is kind of comedy in school life. Anime version of "KIMI NO NA WA" is far beyond "TENKO- SEI".

1953 version of "KIMI NO NA WA":

Haruki and Machiko incidentally met at the shelter in Tokyo under bombing of USAF in WWII. They promised to meet again after 6 months if they could survive and left the shelter without telling their names each other.

This movie is based on the radio drama broadcasted for 2 years. The movie has three parts; total 6 hours.

As previous work of director Shinkai earns 150 million JPY (around 1.5 million USD), the producer expected 1500 million JPY (around 15 million USD) for "KIMI NO NA WA" at most.

But the reality is 11000 million JPY (around 110 million USD) in three weeks after release.

GIFU prefecture is said as the model location of "KIMI NO NA WA".
