Kitarō

Now I realize that most people on this forum are into the J-Rock and J-Pop artists. However I would love to know what everyones thoughts are on my favorite Japanese musician and composer.

Kitarō (喜多郎) is a Japanese artist that has been performing longer than most people on this forum have lived. He is considered to be one of the founding architects of the New Age movement. Originally part of the Japanese Progressive Rock band "Far East Family Band". He began solo career began in 1977. A quarter century and 47 albums later, he is still getting Grammy nominations.

Miscellaneous trivia:

• He was born Masanori Takahashi. His stage name is derived from the manga "GeGeGe no Kitaro" of the 1950's and '60s. (Yes manga has been around that long!)
• He is the former son-in-law of Taoka Kazuo. The most powerful boss ever to head the infamous Yamaguchi-gumi yakuza crime syndicate. Also known as the "Godfather of Godfathers"

I tend to like the Japanese classical as well, and this is no exception. Love the sound and the way all of the instruments incorporate the others. Will be listening to more of this, thanks for bringing it up :P
