I'm in California in LA County. LA seems to be the J-rock be-all and end-all in Cali, so there are people who openly embrace it, but the only place I really find J-rock fans are J-rock concert lines or Japanese class, never really on the street. And the ones I find tend to be obnoxious.

I'd say it has moderate popularity here. It's easy enough to find J-rock CDs, sometimes maybe not in your 'local' music store, but it's easier to get your hands on as opposed to, say, 10 years ago. I wish we were as embracing as Europeans, though, because it caught on over there in record time compared to here in the US. Most of the good bands go to tour Europe half the time, no US, or if the US is included it's only a couple of stops, most likely around or in LA, in which case I'm very fortunate.

I got quite some strange looks and I got laughed at after some people found out that I listened to Jrock.
Nobody I know listens to Jrock, so I don't think it's popular.

.
i mean i saw an cafe on march 24th
and in october i will see miyavi
at the same venue
.
japanese bands play here
but verrry small shows
but this is also good because you can get close to them
and the gigs are intimate.

Not too many people around me listen to Jrock, at least not that I've met. Most people I talk to just say the typical, "why listen to it if you don't know what they're saying?" (take a deep breath...exhale..) Although lately I've been introducing it to my coworkers and i've only gotten positive responses. Anyway, the only bands that have come to Oregon are Dir en Grey, and now Hyde is coming, yay! But I could drive to CA which has more. However, it does take about 16 hours to drive there. uh...way too long.

J-Rock coming to America
would be a disaster.

>:l

Just look at what happens to anime.

Besides me, the only people I've seen listening to J-Rock are Asians - so I've got no idea whether there's a fan base for it in NZ or not.

i think
jrock is wayyy more popular
in places like america
just the country is too big to play shows that accommodate everyone
for example
an cafe played 3 shows there this year
but still alot of people in the us couldnt go
because the countries so big
if everyone who wanted to go went
itd be sold out 60 times over.

lol exactly. They'd need to play like shows or something like that to let everyone have a chance to see them!

Although a lot of people may go to see them more than once so others will still loose out =[

It's never as simple as it sounds lol
