Racism against Japanese Music
 

My family and friends have been making fun of me for listening to Dir en Grey. They keep saying stuff like "how can you listen to that stupid jap music? you cant even understand it." then then mock it by trying to imitate a japanese person singing, but they aren't even speaking a real language.

My dad was the worst. But he didn't just get on about the music he was going full on about Pearl harbor and stuff like that.

Finally, yesterday i forced him to listen to my Dir en grey CD on my way home.
And guess what?

He fucking liked it o_o
People need to stop being racist about Japanese music.
And stop underestimating Jrock.
It is good, you just have to give it a chance.

But, he said they sounded like Tool. Who is Tool? D8

but i completly understand you my folks can't stand them...but who cares... i don't really care what they think....JROCK IS THE BEST <333

i guess it is kind of fair though.
because, if someone over in japan was listening to ..50 cent or Eminem people would probably make pretty much the same comments, just the other way around.

TOOL is a legendary band. who uses no standard outline with music. they've used fibonnacci sequence in one of their songs, i think lateralus.

listen to them, you'll like them. listen to the old album and to the very latest.

their vocalist, is on the band "a perfect circle" and several side projects like tapeworm and psucifer [with rehnholder of nine inch nails; soundtrack to "underworld"]

my dad says horrible racist remarks about the music and the country as a whole that i wont repeat and my mum doesnt know the word jrock and doesnt wish to understand it either
but i cant expect them to like it although i do expect them to respect it and my choice to listen to it but if they dont like it its no big loss i will continue to listen to what i like regardless of there opinions

yeah, but the music they listen to is pretty much the same,
but in different languages. and after they listened to it, they said it wasnt bad.
my friend Rochelle even said Conceived Sorrow sounded like My Chemical Romance...and i somewhat agree.

when it comes to music people are definatly entitled to their own opinion.
but you cant go around dissing someones taste in music just because its in a different language.
