I love Utada. Like others first hearing her songs from Kingdom Hearts. I am sad that she chose to take a hiatus from music, though I understand. My current favorite from her is Show Me Love (Not a Dream), love the more rock sound, so different.

I really like her Love Station album. It's a great pick-me-up! Also many of the lyrics are quite simple, so I can understand them

I have her Ultra Blue album. I think it's just okay. I can tell that it is a very sequencer based album. I heard she uses a Korg Tritan as well as some other sound generators to create her music. I find it very interesting that she supposedly composes her own music. I wonder if she doesn't do some of the recording herself, since her music seems mostly sequencer based. I image she uses a lot of samples for her sounds as well... so I don't think that she has to do a lot of recording with live sound (ie. with microphones) other than her vocals.

Of course my opinions and thoughts are all based solely off the Ultra Blue album. I found that album to be a bit unique in that a lot of it had an almost danceable rhythm, although the harmonies and melodies were decidedly dark. While I can dig the uniqueness of that idea, it's not really my kind of music. Her vocal harmonies over some of the more colorful chords are quite nice though.
