What kind of japanese folk music is this? - 05-03-2014, 12:46 PM

From time to time I can hear similiar songs in different japanese movies but I'd like to listen it more often, but I don't know where to find it

Examples is this: After the Rain (雨あがる Ame agaru?) Japanese 18+ Movie - YouTube

It is a difficult question (for me).

As a screenplay, it seems to be performed by improvisation. I remember a word "戯れ唄:Zare-Uta(bawdy song/poem)" at the performance. However Zare-Uta is not a song but written poem usually.

I think we can not see these performance (improvised song) these days except for such screenplay.

Any other native Japanese could know these kind of songs. Anyone?

By the way, "雨あがる:Ame-Agaru(after the rain)” is a nice story written by FUJISAWA-SHUHEI(family name first). I enjoyed the whole video in youtube.

I might have misunderstand your question.

Are you asking these kind of music? These are not "FOLK" music strictly but you might have meant "FOLK SONG" in other meaning than mine.

長唄:NAGA-UTA("LONG" song); performed as a part of play of KABUKI theater.

小唄:KO-UTA("SHORT" song); performed by GEISHA in front of small amount of customers (1 to 8 or else) in a small room (OZASHIKI).
