Japanese don't use the term "R&B", so, yeah, music of this kind made in Japan is basically mixed in with pop music.
In America where "pop" leans more toward white artists and "R&B" leans more toward black artists there is more of a distinction. Obviously, that doesn't exist in Japan. |

Oh yeah, my pleasure. It's nice to have an actually intelligent question asked once in a while.
How to distinguish? That's a good question. Since Japanese don't distinguish, there really isn't an easy way. Listen to some artists influenced by R&B (maybe Amuro Namie or Def Tech...maybe BoA) and then figure out what sounds you like. I am sure other people can direct you to some better artists than I can. |
