Don't go on quaifications for martial arts. There are no belts or gradings in Muay Thai, you simply ask the fighter about his fight record and then if you want to achieve similar results you let him teach you. Placing levels on MA is like trying to catch the wind in a jar. It also gives the false notion that someone who has reached the top level or qualification somehow knows everything from below that level. But MA is like racing in the rivers of the Amazon, and you are trying to place the finish line at one particular check point where the most of people will never pass, they will go a different way.
Ask someone about their experience if you want to find the knowledgable fighter, not about their qualifications. In which case, training full time and getting ready to fight pro, I should be able to answer what you want to know... and what is it you are saying, exactley? Even if it seems certain that you will lose, retaliate. Neither wisdom nor technique has a place in this. A real man does not think of victory or defeat. He plunges recklessly towards an irrational death. By doing this, you will awaken from your dreams. May the Demon find you...

for self defence.. i highly recommend Krav Maga, you will not be able to use this to compete anywhere tho.. (unless u find some hardcore underground fight scene ) but your gona kick anyones ass if they start a fight outside the pub or something and it doesnt matter what fighting style they use whether they have a knife or multiple attackers ANYTHING it doesnt matter you even learn what to do if someones got a gun to your face, Krav Maga they teach Krav Maga to Military Units even S.W.A.T. use Krav Maga because its specificly designed for real life threatening situations there is no messing around with what your NOT allowed to do it teaches you to do whatever necassary to stop an attacker whether it be eye gouges groin strikes headbutts or kicking them in the face while they are already on the ground hurting there is no rules its just the fastest way to stop someone that might want to hurt you (and thats why its not allowed in competition) ><anyway i think you should do what your really interested in i learn Krav Maga and i love it i did kyokushin karate for a while which even tho full contact has rules muay thai has rules boxing has rules the prupose of all those is to compete "or get fit" but generally there meant to be used to compete with so they arent going to teach you to gouge someones eyes or kick them while they are down because your not allowed to do that in competition Good luck finding what you really want to do i hope you enjoy it as much as i enjoy krav >< sorry for the long post im a bit enthusiastic when it comes to krava maga JoshAussie EDIT: there was a few mistakes in there im in a bit of a rush lol hope you can read it ok >< When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence. ~Ansel Adams
