Snowboard and Skiing in Japan - 08-31-2008, 03:08 PM

Has anyone on this forum Snowboarded or Skied in Japan. I heard the powder in some parts is fantastic. If you have experienced this, tell me what your impression was; conditions, prices, language barriers, culture observations, anything!

I have. Up @ Neisiko.

It has to be hands down the best powder I've ever experienced.

The snow is very very very dry and fluffy.

But on the flipside. The mountain felt small and there weren't many steeps. The park was also small with small jumps but it was well maintained.

If you go, you'll see a lot of Aussies and Kiwis. This was my WTF moment in Japan. Over half the population at the mountain is foreigners. Snowboarding or skiing in Japan isn't that big. Plus, people over there don't like tree runs. So if you do like dodging through the trees, then you'll enjoy that. A lot of virgin pow pow in dare. And a lot of groms. Hahah.

Hope that helped.
