Which Japanese sport or athlete do you follow?

Like anywhere else, sports are huge in Japan. What Japanese sport or athletes do you follow?

I tend to pay attention to all sports, which means during international events I now pay attention to Japanese participants. During this past Olympics that meant I doubly paid attention to swimmer Saori Haruguchi because she is also a memeber of the Oregon State University swim team. Also, because I grew up in Oregon and now live just north of Seattle, I am a Mariners fan and also an Ichiro fan.

I'm a big Kotoōshū fan. He's looovely!

I used to like Genki Sudo.... the only reason I don't follow him anymore is cos he's retired.

I liked him for his humanist ideals more than his fighting ability. Don't get me wrong he's a good fighter but not the best.

Well I love baseball in the US so I guess it was a natural fit that I also loved baseball in Japan while I was there. The two players I liked to watch were Kanemoto, and Akahoshi. I am a Hanshin Tigers fan mostly. And there is no real reason besides the fact that that was the first game I went to there, and all my friends from Japan are Hanshin fans, with a few Carp fans sprinkled in.

Keisuke Honda-hopefully he gets picked up by premier team, shinya aoki-badass MMA fighter.

Yuta Tabuse! The only Japanese NBA player so far.
Unfortunately he hasn't been active much lately - at least in the U.S.

But he was at the Mavericks mini-camp last week (I wish I had gotten to see that!), so maybe they will start talking. I would love to to see two of my favorite players on my home team - Dirk and Yuta.
