Downhill/MTB in Japan?!

Hi guys,

I'm going to stay in Japan for a few years in the next 3 months.
My question is,..is Downhill/Mountainbiking popular in Japan?!
Or do you know some spots, trails or even Downhill-Communitys around Tokyo?!
Would be great to get some answers! :-)

There are some downhill courses in Nagano, many of which are actually ski slopes in the winter season. As 80-odd percent of Japan is mountains and forest finding places to ride should not be hard. As for BMX, it is not so popular here.
