I've played a few of them, off and on, but could never get into them. My friend adores them, but I just can't see why. I've probably been picking up the wrong games, and I really want to give it a chance! So what would be the best game you'd recommend?

You can begin with FFVII, its graphics are a little outdated, but this one is special for many reasons. It's the first one of PlayStation, the first to have 3D graphics and FMVs and it was the first one to break the record of selling units, it put FF on the world mainstream, before that, the game was still more popular on Japan, although FFVI was a success too. It's a good one to begin to know the universe of FF, because almost every famous characteristics of the series is there (also Square made a magnificent CG movie and game sequences for FFVII to DS and PS2, you should see it!). Then you can play VIII or X, but the IX is a good one too if you like SD characters and medieval stories. If you like 2D games you can try play the old ones if you have patience, the best is FFVI you can play it on the PlayStation, but it was first released to Super Nintendo, you're a Nintendo fan, right?

I started with X-2, and I didn't really get it, like you said, so yeah, I'll come back to that one after I've fully completed the others

What's "SD"? Super Deformed? I've never heard that one before.

I just beat FFX for the second time tonight. It made me cry again. I hope the new FFs coming out are that good. Crisis Core was. I'm really worried about XIII. I think looks generic or something compared to the last several FFs.

yeah it does mean Super Deformed,basically the same as Chibi i guess

Super Deformed is a reduced form of a character, it makes it small and, in some degree, cute, at least for the girls. Look at the Firu's avatar (if he didn't change it), it's SD.

I just began FF III on NDS a few weeks ago, but stopped due to NeoGeo emulation and naturally to ruin your Wishes and Throws to the next on JF.

But in fact I really spent long time on GBA 's FF Tactics ( )
